Summer Experiences for Children’s Groups

Participate in fun, educational experiences this summer with the Coastal Discovery Museum. Children’s groups (camps, daycares, clubs, etc.) can participate in a variety of summer activities onsite, offsite, or at your site. Most experiences are 30-45min for younger groups and 45-60min for older groups.

If you plan to visit the Museum with your children’s group for any reason (including self-guided tours), reservations are required.

Explore the salt marsh! Get an up-close look at this unique and important habitat. Observe crabs, mussels, snails, shrimp, and more while learning about their unique adaptations and behaviors. Cost is $7 per child.

TIE DYE

Investigate the history of indigo in South Carolina and create your own indigo-dyed t-shirt as you delve into the process of making indigo dye. Designed for 1st grade and up. Cost $7 per child. Participants provide their own white t-shirt to dye.

MEET AND GREET

Interact with a variety of Lowcountry critters during this casual animal “Meet and Greet.” This is a great opportunity to see these animals up close and learn more about these fascinating critters that share Hilton Head Island with us. (There is no formal presentation…Museum volunteers will share fun facts and help participants handle animals). Adult chaperones will be responsible for supervising and visiting the critters with the children.
$7 per participant. Reservations required for all groups.
Every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am-12:30pm in June, July, and August.
