Coastal Discovery Museum Presents Photography Exhibit by the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island

May 1, 2024

The Coastal Discovery Museum at historic Honey Horn is pleased to present a selection of images from the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island, in the Main Gallery, from May 13 to July 7. Admission is free. The public is invited to attend the opening reception, on May 14, from 5 - 7 pm.

"Field Trip" is the exhibit’s theme, showcasing images of natural and historic sites throughout the region. Since 2012, the club has taken approximately 12 field trips per year to a wide variety of venues, including the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, the Antebellum Trail in Georgia, Brookgreen Gardens, and the Low Country Pow Wow and Cherokee Cultural Festival, among many others.

A special highlight of the exhibit will be four photographs by student winners of the Kurtzberg Memorial Awards. Named after Dr. Larry Kurtzberg, a champion of youth photography and the club's founder and first president, these awards recognize exceptional students enrolled in Hilton Head Island High School's visual arts photography courses. The winners will be announced on May 15.

The public is also invited to attend talks by Camera Club members, held in the gallery at 2 pm, on May 16, May 29, June 12 and June 22. The talks are free and pre-registration is not required.
