Family Fun Day | Coastal Discovery Museum

Each year the Coastal Discovery Museum celebrates the end of summer and start of the schoolyear with a FREE Family Fun Day. It’s our way of giving back to the community and a must for families of all ages! Explore Honey Horn and learn about the Lowcountry from Museum volunteers and community partners. We will have activities and information tables across our property so you can walk around and enjoy all we have to offer - pull a crab trap, try indigo dyeing, search for caterpillars, “dig” for artifacts, meet local authors, get creative in the gallery, learn some Gullah words, sing a few fun songs, and much more! August 9th, 2022 - 10 AM - 1 PM

Stay for lunch and support local farmers and artisans at the Farmers Market (open Tuesdays from 9-1).

ACTIVITIES PLANNED

- Coastal Discovery Museum - Indigo tie dye, salt marsh/blue crab, explore native butterfly habitat, visit the Conservation in the Classroom exhibit.

- Children's Book Fair with the Pat Conroy Literary Center - Meet a dozen children's book authors, books available for sale, learn more about the Pat Conroy Literary Center. Authors will include Susan Diamond Riley, Susan McElroy Montanari, Lisa Anne Cullen, Rebecca Chamberlain, Patricia Bee, Donna Brainard, Mary T. Jacobs, Miho Kinnas, Iris Jackson, Robin Prince Monroe, and Antawn Eady.

- Hilton Head Audubon Society - Find out more about local bird species, where to find them, and how to identify them. Meet members of the HH Audubon society to do some birding with binoculars.

- Musician Jevon Daly - Live performances of his popular kids' concert at 10:15 and at 11:30. Visit the Jevon Kids Playlist to learn the lyrics before you come!

- Tiny Art Workshop - Sponsored in part by the Town of HHI Office of Cultural Affairs - making original artwork to share in the Town's Tiny Art Galleries (or to take home).

- Hands On Art - Make your own print to take home in the Conservation in the Classroom exhibition with the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.
