Where Nature Meets Art Exhibit

Offered by the Artists of Spring Island, this exhibition will provide a glimpse into the beauty of one of our neighboring islands. Spring Island's focus upon preservation and environmental conservation are complementary to the Coastal Discovery Museum's recently adopted mission to "inspire people to care for the Lowcountry." Visit the museum to see the works from some Spring Island artists who have gained an appreciation for our area's unique culture, heritage, and environment.

Opening reception is March 2 from 4:30-7:00 pm

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 am until 4:30 pm and Sunday from 11 am until 3 pm.

Recent Archaeological Research on Hilton Head Island

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Dr. Matthew Sanger at this informal presentation. Dr. Sanger and his students from Binghamton University have worked at various archaeological sites on Hilton Head Island during summer field schools in 2016 and 2017. Of particular interest to Dr. Sanger is the Sea Pines Shell Ring, a site that is estimated to date to around 4,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest Native American sites on Hilton Head Island. Join us to hear what Dr. Sanger and his students have discovered during their excavations this year.

No charge, no reservations necessary, first come, first seated!
