Our Location

The Museum is situated on the north end of Hilton Head Island on three acres of land overlooking beautiful Jarvis Creek and the surrounding salt marsh which harbors SC State shellfish grounds. The Museum grounds are developed as outdoor exhibits focusing on the history and native flora and fauna of the area. These outdoor exhibits include life size models of saxon vats used in the 1700's to produce indigo dye, and a labeled nature trail bordering the salt marsh.

The Museum is located on the north end of Highway 278 on Hilton Head Island which offers easy access to oncoming traffic and also to the new Cross Island Parkway bridge that provides a direct link to the south end of the island. The renovated building is ADA accessible and boasts a large deck overlooking the picturesque salt marsh landscape and the Intracoastal Waterway in the distance. Many visitors and groups touring the Museum utilize the deck for a relaxing lunch.
