The Discovery House is home to the Museum’s indoor exhibitions. The 6,000 square foot former plantation home and hunting retreat was extensively renovated in 2006–7 to be utilized as the Museum’s center of activity for the property

Begun in the 1850s by the Graham family, the original section of the Discovery House is home to the Museum’s permanent exhibits, Kids’ Zone, Gift Store and Front Desk.

Start at the Front Desk to learn what events and exhibits are happening at the Coastal Discovery during your visit. Suggested donation is $5 per person.

A 1930s addition to the Discovery House included 2 large bedrooms and a living area. These rooms have been turned into the Museum’s temporary gallery space and Sea Island Room, used for meetings, lectures and classes.
